Lakes, Streams & Waterfalls

Evins Mill is minutes away from Center Hill, Middle Tennessee’s premier recreational lake, where guests may boat, fish, swim and water ski. Also nearby is the Caney Fork River, with opportunities for fishing, canoeing and kayaking. Our own Carmac Falls aside, slightly further afield are several spectacular waterfalls, including Fall Creek Falls, Burgess Falls, Great Falls & Twin Falls.

Center Hill Lake

Center Hill Lake is a 64 mile long reservoir consisting of 415 miles of shoreline, and 18,200 acres of deep, pure water for many species of fish. Shorelines are undeveloped and natural. Around the lake are numerous marinas for boat rentals, as well as recreation areas - man-made beaches featuring swimming and other amenities.

Marinas
The following marinas are within twenty minutes of Evins Mill, and most offer pontoon and houseboat rentals.

Sligo Marina
(615.597.5245) From the intersection of U.S. 70 and State Route 56, follow U.S. 70 east 5.9 miles and turn right on Sligo Road. The road is directly before Sligo Bridge. The dock is at the end of the road.

Caney Fork River

At the head of Center Hill Lake is the Caney Fork River, great for canoe trips, kayaking and trout fishing.

Both Caney Fork Canoe (931.858.0967) and Canoe the Caney (931.858.2628, #14) offer canoe trips on the Caney Fork River. They’ll drop you off, pick you up, and provide you with canoes, paddles and life jackets.

 
Fishing

Waterfalls

Tennessee’s Highland Rim is known for its stream system and breathtaking waterfalls. In addition to Carmac Falls at Evins Mill, Burgess Falls , Fall Creek Falls, Great Falls & Twin Falls are also worth a visit.

Burgess Falls
Like Evins Mill, Burgess Falls (931.432.5312) is also a Tennessee State Natural Area, featuring a series of three waterfalls and long hiking trails that provide beautiful views of the broad and towering cascades – and it’s just 30 minutes from Evins Mill.

From the intersection of U.S. 70 and State Route 56, follow U.S. 70 east about 15 miles and turn left onto Hwy. 136. Follow Hwy. 136 about 5 miles to a four-way stop and turn left onto Hwy. 135. Follow Hwy. 135 about 5 miles to the entrance of the Natural Area.
