Evins Mill is minutes from the Caney Fork River, home to great kayaking, canoeing and floating trips, and one of Middle Tennessee's premier fly fishing destinations. Even closer is Center Hill Lake, one of the state's foremost recreational lakes, around which there are multiple marinas and recreation areas, where guests may boat, fish, swim and water ski.

The Caney Fork River winds its way through central Tennessee, draining a substantial portion of the Cumberland Plateau and Highland Rim regions. It is also a major tributary of the Cumberland River - and home to a host of recreational opportunities. Even better, it is a short drive from Evins Mill.

For twenty-five years, the folks at Canoe the Caney have offered kayaking, canoeing, and float trips on the Caney Fork and enjoy the Evins Mill stamp of approval! Their trips are family-friendly and led by a friendly and experienced crew.

Fly Fishing & Casting Lessons

Andy Mahurin is a Certified Fly Fishing Guide on the Caney Fork River. While his favorite species is trout, he also loves to fish for smallmouth bass, pike and striped bass.

He attended Fly Fishing Guide School at Montana Fishing Outfitters in Big Sky, Montana and a few years later relocated to Middle Tennessee to guide full time on the Caney Fork River.

Andy works in partnership with Billy Medley of Medley Fishing School to offer guided fishing trips on the Caney Fork and to offer casting lessons on-site at Evins Mill.

Sligo Marina - 615.597.5245. From the intersection of U.S. 70 and State Route 56, follow U.S. 70 east 5.9 miles and turn right on Sligo Road. The road is directly before Sligo Bridge. The dock is at the end of the road. 350 Sligo Road, Smithville, TN 37166
Center Hill Marina - 615.548.4315. From the intersection of U.S. 70 and State Route 56, follow U.S. 70 west 5.6 miles to State Route 96 North (Dale Ridge Road) and turn right. Follow State Route 96 north 7.7 miles. The marina is on the right. 450 Cove Hollow Cir, Lancaster, TN 38569
Hidden Harbor Marina - 615.597.8800. From the intersection of U.S. 70 and State Route 56, follow State Route 56 north 1.7 miles and turn left on State Route 83 (Allen Ferry Road). Travel west 1 mile and turn right (marked with sign to marina) on Holmes Creek Road. The Marina is 2.1 miles on right. 2685 Casey Cove Road, Smithville, TN 37166
Pates Ford Marina - 615.597.4807. From the intersection of U.S. 70 and State Route 56, follow State Route 56 south 5 miles to the intersection of State Route 288 (Keltonburg Road) and turn left. Follow State Route 288 (Keltonburg Road) 2.7 miles to Jefferson Road (marked with sign to marina) and turn left. (Jefferson Road will be the first road on the left past Keltonburg Community Center). Hurricane Marina - 931.858.2221. From the intersection of U.S. 70 and State Route 56, follow State Route 56 north 9.5 miles and turn left to Floating Mill Recreation Area / Hurricane Boat Dock. Floating Mill - 931.858.4845. From the intersection of U.S. 70 and State Route 56, follow State Route 56 north 9.5 miles and turn left to Floating Mill - Hurricane Marina. Ragland Bottom - 931.761.3616. From the intersection of U.S. 70 and State Route 56, follow U.S. 70 east 7.1 miles to Ragland Bottom Road.
